This week’s sandwich is a tale of woe and weariness from the cityscapes of Northerland.
Oh, wait.
No.
It’s a poem.
Lavender
Ashley Capes
he woke and walked
feet mumbling
choking on dusk, head
pillowed by burnt-out lavender
sky, cringing from fire
(and cars) like rats
scurrying along the highway
agitated white
her hair
blooming-polaroid
in his mind
telephone held close
outside
streetlights sucking colour
through straws
and windows, spots
he can only glaze over.
